Town Facilities


  • Rail
    Chirk Station is situated approximately 600 metres from the town centre. Trains run Northward to Ruabon, Wrexham and Chester, with connections to Holyhead, Liverpool, Manchester and Crewe. Southbound trains run to Shrewsbury (with connections to Crewe, Cardiff and mid Wales), Telford, Wolverhampton and Birmingham. The station has free parking for up to 30 vehicles. A rail/bus link to the Ceiriog Valley operates to meet some of the rail services.

  • Bus
    Busses run to Wrexham, Llangollen, Oswestry and the Ceiriog Valley. Bus stops are close to the War Memorial.

  • Coaches

  • Roads
    The A483 / A5 Wrexham-Oswestry trunk road forms a bypass around Chirk. Oswestry is 7 miles south, Wrexham 10 miles north, and Llangollen 5 miles west.

  • Parking
    Free parking for approximately 100 cars is available in the centre of town.

  • Toilets
    Toilet facilities, including facilities for disabled people, are located in the town centre Car park.

  • Leisure Centre
    A leisure centre, complete with indoor swimming pool, is situated in Chapel Lane.

  • Library
    A public library with public computer and internet facilities is situated in Chapel Lane.

  • Bank
    Banking facilities are available in the town centre.

  • Post Office
    A Post Office is situated in Colliery Road, close to the car park.

  • Provisions
    Several outlets are situated in the town, and in the surrounding area.

    There are several cafes and restaurants, together with 'Take Away' establishments in the town.

    The Practice is situated on the corner of Colliery Road, convenient to the car park.

  • Hospital
    On the edge of town is a Community Hospital. Major hospital facilities are at Wrexham and Gobowen.

  • Caravan Park
    For Caravan Club Members, Lady Margaret's Park is located about half a mile beyond the rail station.

  • Marina
    A Marina is situated off the canal at Whitehurst, about half a mile from the town.

  • Churches
    The town has Anglican, Roman Catholic and Methodist Churches.
